Zimmerman was the fifth boat to enter the two mile race course for a qualifying attempt, but lost a blade off the propeller before completing a lap. The vibration created by the broken prop cause severe damage to the race boat, causing the team to withdraw from the event.

When the boats were allowed back on the course, Jimmy Shane drove the 5 Graham Trucking to the top of the qualifying ladder with a fast lap averaging 147.124 mph. H1 Unlimited Press Release
David Warren made his debut in an Unlimited hydroplane Friday at the Diamond Cup in Coeur d'Alene, ID.
After passing on the two test sessions, the Sahara Pizza sponosored 100 took to the course for qualifying.
On his third and final lap, Warren knocked out a 139.678 lap on the choppy Lake Coeur d'Alene 2 mile course.
That put the team 5th fastest out of 10 boats.David Warren takes the 100 for the first time ever on Friday. Chris Denslow photo.
He later increased that to 139.933.
Not a bad way to begin an Unlimited career!
Warren needs to complete 15 laps and 10 of those must be over 130 mph. Once he completes those laps, he'll have to race in two heats from the outside and in back of the field to show H1 officials he can compete on this level.
Going into Saturday, Warren has 7 laps complete, and 3 of those are over 130.
Leland Unlimited is off to a good start this weekend, with a new driver, sponsor and new paint scheme.
The 9 Team Red Dot's stay at Lake Coeur d'Alene was a short one.
Jon Zimmerman took the Jones Racing entry on course Friday for his 1st qualifying attempt, and couldn't complete a lap.
Damage to the 9 is significant.A sound that all teams and fans don't like hearing. One that is very unique. The sound of a prop breaking.
That's what happened to Zimmerman and his white number 9.
The damage to the hull was significant enough that the team withdrew for the weekend.
Along with losing a prop, it damaged the strut assembly and put a large hole in the transom end of the hull.
The violent shake of the prop destroyed the gear box, and pieces of it scattered into the turbine engine.
The long shaft was bent as well.
All in all it was an expensive one day trip to Coeur d'Alene.
Team Red Dot is in 4th place in National High points, and is chasing the Spirit of Qatar for 3rd.
The season finale is only two weeks away in San Diego (Sept. 13-15).
Leland Unlimited has a new driver, hull, sponsor and paint job for the 6th stop on the H1 Unlimited tour this weekend at Coeur d'Alene.
David Warren takes over in the 100, and will try to get in 15 laps and qualify as an Unlimited driver.
Sahara Pizza comes on board to sponsor the team for the Diamond Cup.
The new paint job covers up the maroon and black this Leland hull last saw in 2012.
